Rilo Kiley - The Good that won't come out
Someone once taught me something. She claims it's the lords work, Im a little more skeptical.
She said love everyone.
Strange concept right?
And no not just the kids who dress and act and do exactly as you do.
The ones who we don't love, the ones that we dont even see.
The people we walk around on the sidewalks, who we dread making even the slightest eye contact with.
The people, who just like me and you, have fallen at some point.
We fail to even acknowledge these people, yet we sit around coffee tables at multi-billion dollar corporations (or even worse, small coffee houses we like just because they AREN'T a multi-billion dollar corporations) and talk about Borack and vegetarianism, and religion and whatever self ritious, holier than thou, "I could save the world with my ideas but society is already fucked" hipster, granola muffin, pomegranate anti-oxidant smoothie drinking thoughts that are trendy that week and we do.... nothing.
We all talk of this great revolution, but very few of us (including myself) actually get up and DO. And of the people that do, how many actually REALLY care about the cause. How many of us throwing money into the "Save Sarah" jar at the pizzeria actually, truly, genuinely CARE?
I think we need to start realizing that EVERYONE is in need of help, and stop picking and choosing based on the thoughts of others, cause let's face it, when you get asked around holiday time if you'd like to donate $1 for whatever cause and have your name written on a balloon and taped to the windows and stop&shop, are you more for the actual cause or are you saying yes because your wondering what the cashier might think if you say no?
What exactly am I getting at? Go do, don't blog, don't facebook status update, don't journal log, but actually get up and go.
Am I saying go to Boston and live in the slums for the summer and do a completely selfless act of sacrificing your "normal" life for the better of other people? No.
But if we can all learn something from my friend (Who has learned it all from Jesus)than it's to love everyone, help everyone, and put your thoughts and words into action, come on now, our PARENTS started a revolution.
I'm going out now to walk to the store, instead of driving, am I going to go save the world? No, but no point in complaining about pollution and global warming and what not if I'm going to contribute to the problem.
